What to know about construction in Ventura
Ventura is a coastal city with its own Building and Safety Division. Properties in the coastal zone — including Pierpont, Ventura Keys, and parts of the beachfront — may require a coastal development permit from the California Coastal Commission or the city's coastal arm. Ventura's mix of historic homes in the Downtown and Midtown areas and newer construction in East Ventura means we encounter everything from 1920s bungalows with unpermitted additions to modern tract homes.
